2. The Coronavirus
1993. In the episode titled "Marge in Chains", a virus from Japan called the "Osaka Flu" makes its way to Springfield, infecting the entire yellow population and causing panic.
Although the virus in the episode is not the coronavirus, the similarities with the Covid-19 pandemic are disturbing. In particular, the rapid, large-scale contagion and the collective fear spread among the population.
3. The End of Game of Thrones (Spoiler Alert)
Let's get back to the light side, more or less. In 2017, The Simpsons came out with a parody of the famous series Game of Thrones, showing a dragon destroying an entire city .
Just two years later, in the series' final season, a dragon razes King's Landing , leaving millions of viewers in shock.

In no uncertain terms, in 2014 The Simpsons showed a FIFA official being arrested for corruption. Just a year later, in 2015, several FIFA officials were actually arrested on corruption charges in a scandal that rocked the football world.
